FLORIDA ATLANTIC/TROY HELPING TO MAKE A NAME FOR THE SUN BELT (BONUS COVERAGE: INDEPENDENTS)

Both Florida Atlantic and Troy scored major upsets on their home fields last year. Florida Atlantic took out Minnesota 42-39 as an 8-point underdog. Troy scored a nationally televised 41-23 rout of Oklahoma State as a 10-point underdog.

The good news was that the Sun Belt earned respect. The bad news was that these results discouraged any name programs from scheduling road games against decent Sun Belt programs!

If anyone is going to make a name for themselves this year, it's going to have to come on the road.
